Thereminul, sau Thereminvox-ul este un istrument muzical despre care crezi că există doar după ce l-ai văzut și auzit… Se spune că există un instrument care nu trebuie atins, ca totuşi, să cânţi la el. „O să cred asta, când îl văd!”, spun mulţi oameni dacă aud această propoziţie. Am în faţa mea ceva care este o cutie montată pe un stativ de microfon şi din care iese o antenă, asemănătoare radioului tatălui meu din anii ’80, orientată în sus şi una circulară, în partea stângă a cutiei.
Acel ceva se numeşte ”Theremin” şi este un instrument muzical electronic (monofonic) care se caracterizează prin faptul că nu trebuie să-l atingi, atunci când vrei să cânţi la el. Numele instrumentului vine de la cercetătorul rus prof. Leon Theremin, care a inventat instrumentul în anul 1919.
Acest instrument se foloseşte cu ajutorul celor două antene, cea orientată în sus, în partea dreaptă controlează înălţimea tonului (pitch), iar antena circulară din stânga foloseşte la controlul volumului. (Citiți articolul integral aici).

The theremin is also used in concert music (especially avant-garde and 20th- and 21st-century new music), and in popular music genres such as rock.

This particular footage is from 1954, in Leon’s 58th year, 34 years after the invention of the theremin. He went on to live another 39 years. The theremin, along with the musical saw, blaster beam & portative organ are 4 of the most interesting musical instruments.
