Bibby WaveMaster Horizon launched and named at Damen Shipyards Galati.
Vineri, 29 martie, Șantierul naval Damen Galati din România a lansat al doilea vas de operații de service (SOV) al companiei Bibby Marine Services (SOV) 9020. Cu acelsi prilej, nava a fost denumită oficial Bibby WaveMaster Horizon. La livrare, în cursul acestui an, SOV va începe lucrările de întreținere a două parcuri eoliene EnBW și Enbridge din Marea Nordului Germaniei – Hohe See și Albatros – pentru Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy și EnBW.
Damen a dezvoltat nava SOV 9020 în urma unei consultări strânse cu industria offshore a energiei regenerabile. Designul combină capacitățile DP2 și o carieră inovatoare, împreună cu un interior revoluționar și caracteristici complete care asigură o eficiență maximă a funcționării.
Damen a început construcția celui de-al doilea SOV în același timp cu prima navă, Bibby WaveMaster 1. Aceasta înseamnă că, de atunci când Bibby Marine Services și Siemens Gamesa au semnat contractul la sfârșitul anului 2017, Damen a reușit să accelereze rapid construcția.

Cea care l-a botezat pe Bibby WaveMaster Horizon a fost doamna Mirna Robert-Du Ry van Beest Holle, soția directorului de proiecte speciale al lui Damen Peter Robert. Peter, în calitate de director de dezvoltare a afacerilor la Damen, a contribuit la dezvoltarea SOV 9020 de la începuturile sale.

Bibby WaveMaster Horizon launched and named at Damen Shipyards Galati
On March 29th, Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania launched Bibby Marine Services’ second Service Operations Vessel (SOV) 9020. During the same event, the vessel was officially named Bibby WaveMaster Horizon. Upon delivery later this year, the SOV will begin maintenance work on two EnBW and Enbridge-owned windfarms in the German North Sea – Hohe See and Albatros – for Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy and EnBW.
Damen developed the SOV 9020 vessel following close consultation with the offshore renewable energy industry. The design combines walk-to-work capabilities with DP2 and an innovative hull along with a revolutionary interior and comprehensive features ensuring maximum efficiency of operation.
Damen began construction of the second SOV at the same time as the first vessel, the Bibby WaveMaster 1. This meant that, when Bibby Marine Services and Siemens Gamesa confirmed their contract at the end of 2017, Damen was able to accelerate construction rapidly.

The godmother of the Bibby WaveMaster Horizon was Mrs Mirna Robert-Du Ry van Beest Holle, wife of Damen’s Director of Special Projects Peter Robert. Peter, as then Director of Business Development at Damen, was instrumental in the development of the SOV 9020 from its inception.

Projects range from the smallest simple repairs through Class’ maintenance to complex refits and the complete conversion of large offshore structures. DSC completes around 1,300 repair and maintenance jobs annually, both at yards as well as in ports and during voyage.
